The dog is also known as the Alsatian. It is a very intelligent, well-proportioned and strong animal that was bred to be a herding dog. Thanks to its unique qualities, the dog was also used as a guard dog, police dog, guide for the disabled, and so forth. The coat of the dog most often comes in black with tan, sable or all black, but also can come in blue, liver and white. Though in many standards these colors are supposed to be a fault.
