When purchasing a purebred dog of this breed, it’s necessary to see the health certificates of its parents and ask the breeder about typical problems of the bloodline. It’s the main aim of responsible breeders to screen the breeding stock for all typical disorders and use only sound sires and dams. Like all purebreds, these dogs are prone to hereditary disorders. Without selective work, these dogs may have too long backs, steep angulations, faulty ear and tail carriage, and poor movement. Aggression and unstable temperament may also be inherited or caused by lack of socialization during first several weeks of the pup’s life.
